Mounted games is a fast paced, action packed discipline with riders and mounts displaying an incredible amount of fitness, training and skill. Mounted Games are played by people of all ages on ponies up to a height of 15hh (152 cm).
They require a high degree of athletic ability, good riding skills, hand-to-eye coordination, determination, perseverance, and a competitive spirit, which nevertheless requires an ability to work together with other riders and a willingness to help one another.
As with all sports, Mounted Games are played at many levels of ability, and although top players and teams prefer particular types of ponies, any child or youngster with any pony, whatever its breeding, can get started and have a lot of fun doing so.
Sonshine Ranch currently have a group of keen games riders all of various ages and riding abilities. We are affiliated with New Zealand Mounted Games Association (NZMGA) who provide training & competitions throughout the season.
Weekly practices are held at Sonshine Ranch and Coaching can be arranged on your own pony or by hiring a Ranch Games Pony.
